Report on the First Half

Both sides played well in the first half, regardless of the score at the end of 45 minutes, which was in favor of the Super Eagles.

It was looking like a stalemate in the first half, as they continued to create chances but couldn’t convert them.

In the 45th minute of the contest, Taiwo Awoniyi doubled the advantage with a beautiful goal that the Union Berlin man grabbed home, making the score 2-0.

That was how the first half concluded, with Nigeria leading 2-0 as they headed inside for the break after a good 45 minutes, with the Super Eagles leading.

Report on the Second Half

The second half was fantastic from both teams, who performed well enough to get something into the net in under 45 minutes.

Moses Simon extended Nigeria’s lead to 3-0 in the 48th minute of the second half, slamming one past the goalkeeper to extend the lead.

Sudan continued to press for a consolation goal, which would be huge for them given that they had yet to score in the African Cup of Nations this year.

In the 70th minute, Walieldin Khidir scored from the penalty spot to make the score 3-1, sending Maduka Okoye the wrong way.

The match ended with Nigeria 3-1 Sudan, giving the Super Eagles all three points and advancing them to the next round with one game remaining.
