Chelsea edged out Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup via penalties 4-3 after they played 1-1 draw which saw Timo Werner getting his name on the scoreboard.
It was an evenly balanced encounter which saw Kepa Arrizabalaga showing his quality in the game and penalty shootout which was good for the Blues at the end of the day.

The first half of the encounter wasn’t much fun as both teams couldn’t make anything happen with a limited amount of opportunities created going forward.
Aston Villa was solid with everything they were doing to make sure the same thing that happened during their Premier League clash didn’t repeat itself as the encounter progressed.
It was Chelsea with more of the ball possession which saw them unable to make things happen despite being the better side who made more push going forward than their opponent.
The first 45 minutes of the game carried on with the opportunities still coming in numbers with nothing still to separate them as they entered into the final stages which weren’t looking good with the scoreline.
Thing played on until the referee ended the first half with Chelsea being held to a goalless scoreline by Aston Villa as they both headed for the break after an even balanced 45 minutes.
They both resumed the second half with both teams going hard at each other after the first 45 minutes which wasn’t good enough to result in any goal being scored by either of both teams.
Timo Werner opened the goal scoring in the 54th minute after a lovely piece of play saw Reece James providing the assist which made Chelsea took a 1-0 lead against their opponent.
Things were looking good for the Blues until Aston Villa leveled things 1-1 in the 64th minute with a stunner coming from Cameron Archer who ensured he converted neatly.
More coming from both ends as Thomas Tuchel had to make a couple of changes in an attempt to get the match done and dusted as Romelu Lukaku was introduced at 76th minute with Saul Niguez out.
Nothing could separate them as the referee ended the second half with Chelsea 1-1 Aston Villa which saw the encounter going into a penalties shootout as a winner needed to be picked out.
The Blues started the penalties shootout well as they scored their two first spot-kicks which saw their opponent losing one of theirs which made it 2-1 as they carried on ending it with 4-3.
